Machine Testing

To verify laboratory prototypes of designed drives, an extensive infrastructure of control systems, traction converters, measurement technologies and test benches is available. Depending on the application, microprocessor, digital signal processor and FPGA systems are used in order to control laboratory converters for rotating field and switched reluctance machines.

 

Test Benches

  • 175 kW – high speed test bench

    • max. speed: 25000 rpm
  • wheel load test bench
    • 2x 60 kW to measure drive trains including transmission and differential
    • configuration 1: max. torque / max. speed: 300 Nm / 4500 rpm
    • configuration 2: max. torque / max. speed: 1200 Nm / 1125 rpm
  • 160 kW multipurpose test bench
    • max. torque / max. speed: 700 Nm / 12500 rpm
  • two 18 kW multipurpose test benches
    • max. speed: 12000 rpm
  • characterization test bench to measure rotor isotropy
  • several test benches below 1 kW

Measuring Equipment

  • converter to supply test object with a variable DC link voltage

  • torque measurement shafts
  • power measuring devices (mechanical and electrical)
  • measuring devices to record acoustic quantities (airborne and structure-borne sound)
  • rotor telemetry, temperature measuring systems, thermal imaging cameras
  • data loggers for simultaneous recording of measurement quantities
  • several communication interfaces (RS232, CAN/CANopen, Ethernet)
  • temperature control of test object via stationary and mobile conditioning units
